As a licensed professional counselor, I believe prioritizing mental health is key to happiness and stability in life. Seeking help can be one of the hardest parts, so congratulations on taking that step! I enjoy working with individuals 18-60 years of age wanting to take control of their lives who are struggling with issues such as anxiety, depression, self-esteem, or adjusting to new changes.
I attended Slippery Rock University for my bachelors degree and then The Ohio State University for my masters in social work degree. I have worked with a wide variety of individuals from children to geriatric populations; new moms and infants and everything in between. I love pulling different techniques from different modalities however, my favorite treatment modality is EMDR.
I know starting a new therapy relationship can feel overwhelming, especially if you’re carrying the weight of past trauma, relationship stress, or deep grief. My goal is to offer a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel seen, heard, and never rushed. Together, we will move at your pace, focusing on what matters most to you right now. If you’d like to integrate your Christian faith into therapy, I’m honored to support that, and I also work comfortably with clients from all backgrounds and beliefs.
I’m the owner of Mérite Counseling and Consulting Services, a therapist, a mother, a wife, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and a first-generation Nigerian American. I get so much fulfillment from being able to support my clients and help them through the ups and downs of life.
I am genuine, compassionate, and dedicated to meeting you where you are on your journey. I believe in creating a safe, judgment-free environment where your voice matters. I honor your unique experiences and am committed to walking alongside you with empathy, respect, and encouragement. My approach is collaborative and personalized, drawing on my expertise and lived experience as a Black female clinician and veteran. I am here to support you, advocate for you, and help you discover your strengths as we work together toward your goals.
Hi there! I know that asking for help can be difficult, but it can also be life changing when you find the right therapist. If you are struggling with symptoms of anxiety or depression and want to understand the "why" behind them rather than only focus on generic quick fixes, I may be a good fit for you. I believe that before we can problem solve our issues, we first need to fully understand them. I help my clients identify patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving that have become habitual so they can regain conscious control over their lives. By doing so, we create the opportunity to do things differently.
