Hello and welcome! I’m Toni LaZurs, and I’m excited to meet you.
I’m originally from New Orleans and grew up in Southern California. I earned my B.A. in Criminal Justice (with minors in Sociology and Psychology) and later an M.A. in Social Sciences from CSU Fullerton. After teaching and advising students, I discovered my passion for counseling, which led me to earn an M.Ed. in Counseling from Sam Houston State University. I’m now a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor in Texas.
I’ve spent the past 14 years working with students with learning differences and building my private practice. I primarily support teens and young adults navigating challenges at school, home, or through family changes, and I also coach recent graduates facing career uncertainty.
I’m a mom to twin daughters (age 30) and enjoy spending time with them and my mom, who lives with me. In my free time, I love reading, movies, jazz and hip hop, shopping, and bowling.
I look forward to meeting you!
Please note, I am only taking insurance for individual sessions at this time, not for couples counseling.
A Chicago native, I spent years in corporate America yearning for deeper life-meaning. Looking for an opportunity to provide service to others, I obtained an MA in Clinical Psychology at Antioch University Los Angeles, a leading university for individuals serious about practicing psychotherapy with social justice in mind. I help connect life's dots to bring about awareness and change.
I have a variety of experience providing individual, family, and couples therapy to a range of clients from young children to adults. Having worked in environments including the school system, outpatient facilities and private practice, I have a solid understanding of how to collaborate with clients to identify their needs and provide appropriate support or connect to the right community resources. Throughout my career, I have gained experience with navigating conflict resolution, addressing general DSM-5 diagnosis’, and helping clients increase emotional regulation and distress tolerance.
I’m glad you’re here—I care deeply about helping people improve their emotional and mental well-being by working through past and present challenges. My own journey has shown me the value of therapy in navigating life’s difficulties. I specialize in women’s issues, mental performance, anxiety and depression, adult children of alcoholics, and life transitions. As a devoted Christian, I offer Christian counseling upon request and primarily work with women ages 18–55
I graduated from the University of Texas at Tyler with a Master's Degree in Counseling and am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I spent the beginning of my career in mental health working at an MHMR, as well as with those struggling with addiction and eating disorders.
Life can be unpredictable—filled with transitions, challenges, and moments that leave us feeling uncertain or overwhelmed. As a therapist, I deeply believe that you are the expert of your own journey.
